The program was born out of a deep concern for the wild horses that face brutal roundups and uncertain futures. After witnessing firsthand the chaos and stress at a BLM wild horse adoption event, I realized there was a dire need to step in and help these animals. Horses were being rounded up by helicopters, injured in the process, and then kept in crowded, dangerous holding pens. It became clear to me that if I didn’t act, these horses would likely end up sold to kill buyers or face a lifetime of confinement. That’s when I decided to start rescuing them myself.
With a background in working with horses, I decided to take my knowledge and apply it to helping these wild mustangs. I began adopting as many horses as possible, providing them with the training they needed to be adopted into good homes. Over time, Wild Horse Sanctuary became a 501(c) nonprofit solely funded by donations, allowing me to continue my mission of saving as many horses as I can from the BLM roundups.
